We offer full-service catering for weddings, events, and corporate parties. Additionally, we run a private chef service which is available for anything from larger celebrations to intimate dinner parties and everything in between. Our menus are fully customizable, taking into account dietary restrictions, preferences, and seasonality.

Why Did You Choose to Open in Charleston?

I attended the College of Charleston and fell in love with this city. After spending years as a private chef in downtown’s South of Broad neighborhood, I decided to pursue culinary school full-time and moved to New York to attend the Institute of Culinary Education.

I spent the next three years cooking in tv production and restaurants in Manhattan and Brooklyn. During that time, I met my now-husband and business partner, Chris Timby, and we both knew we eventually wanted to leave the bustle of the city behind.

Charleston was always on my mind– it’s such a wonderful place to live and work, and the food scene is fantastic. We moved down and never looked back! After cooking with some of Charleston’s largest caterers, I found a boutique caterer that really stood out to me. Their high-end approach to cuisine matched mine and I felt I had found my culinary home. Eventually, I took it over and that’s how Rosemary & Rye was born!

Who is Your Typical Client?

Anyone who appreciates an elevated approach to cuisine is our kind of person! Whether you are seeking down-home classics done right, or creative culinary offerings from across the globe, I am formally trained in cuisine from every continent and love bringing unique meals to our client’s plates.

On the private chef side of our business, we cater a variety of functions, from family reunions, business and networking dinners, and holiday parties to intimate dinner parties for even just two people.

We also have a sister company, Squeeze Cocktails, which is a mobile bar service for Charleston events and private parties so your cocktail needs are covered– it is Charleston, after all!

Does Your Business Offer Services in Other Locations Besides Charleston?

We primarily service the Charleston area, including Kiawah, Isle of Palms, Mount Pleasant, and even Edisto Island. But we do occasionally venture down to Hilton Head and Beaufort, too.

We believe great food is best served with integrity and inclusion. We are the only woman-owned and woman-executive-chef-operated catering business in Charleston and are proud to be an LGBTQ-inclusive caterer.

What’s the Craziest Experience You’ve Had with a Client?

There are so many! After more than a decade in catering, I have some crazy stories. There was a bride who wanted to dance to “Lady in Red” all by herself with a red boa and elbow-length red velvet gloves. There was also a man whose friends taped him to a tree in the yard at a private party because he kept trying to remove his clothes! And, there was a wedding from early in my career which had no planner and resulted in emergency services being called to administer CPR and the police coming to arrest someone – the two incidents were only mildly related!

Where’s Your Favorite Place to Travel Outside of Charleston?

We just came back from a trip to Italy and had the best time! We essentially ate and drank our way from coast-to-coast. My favorite part was staying at a century-old olive farm that produces small-batch extra virgin olive oil. What can I say, I am a chef! Great food and ingredients will always be the highlight for me.
